Cause for Celebration!

This card is inspired by something I saw on another web site, split coast stampers. For your viewing pleasure I've added a new list to my blog called My Favourites, under the heading is a list of my favourite blogs and web sites. I have been playing around with some shadow box card ideas so stay tuned fro more on that including a tutorial. This is the link to the shadow box card that inspired today's post. http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/860617?si=cause%20for%20celebration

To get the same effect, with out the shadow box card itself, I cut out a circle on the front of the card after stamping the back ground image. The butterflies on this card are from the Level 2 hostess set Cause for Celebration. The first card was made with a Soft Sky and Blue Bayou colour combination, and Pretty Petals as the background stamp. The second card was made with Whisper White and Blue Bayou combination, and the background was created using the Petals wheel.

Double Stampin

Another day another card! Spring is in the air and it's raining! Yeah no snow! Finally! LOL! I've been playing with some different colour combinations and some fun techniques. This card uses Yoyo Yellow, Real Red and Whisper White CS. To start off with the base of the card is on whisper white card stock. I used the corner rounder to scallop the bottom edge of the yoyo yellow cs. I stamped the dots from the polka dots and paisley stamp set in whisper white craft ink. I used real red to double stamp this elegant flower from the heartfelt thanks set, stamped so saffron in the center of the flower and cut it out....I'm into a real cutting frienzy lately...Look out! Red twill ribbon was added across the top of the yellow to complete the front. Now for the inside.....I cut out a piece of yoyo yellow cs and scalloped the top and bottom edges. I added some slices in the center of the card to allow for the pop up sentiment. The sentiment is one of my favourites from the all holidays set, and was stamped in real red and mounted on coordinating cs. Just to show you how versatile this stamp set can be I've included another card, a little more subdued and just as easy. For this card I cut the paper 4 1/4" by 10 1/2" so that it would still fit in a standard card envelope. I folded the card off center so the front is a little shorter than the back of the card. For the center image I double stamped the flower using mellow moss as the solid stamp and old artichoke as the outline. To get the variations in colour some of the flowers were stamped two or three times before reinking. I added some eyelettes and threaded some ribbon through them. I matted the front image on old artichoke cs and added a strip of cs behind the scallops to accentuate them. The result is a very soft card that can be used for almost any occassion: birthday, thank you, thinking of you, get well, etc. I hope you enjoy my blog and keep stamping!
