Cards from the Contest!

As promised, although delayed, these are the two cards that we did at the Bradford Stampin' UP! Club that entitled the commentors to enter the draw. Good golly does that make sense to anyone other than me? lol! The first card was done earlier in the month in soft sky and chocolate chip. I changed things up a bit by substituting Tempting Turquoise. Using the blender pens and the Turquoise Classic stamp pad we added highlights and colour to the bird from the Pretty Amazing stamp set.

This second card was actually done in Old Olive at the club, but I've recently made it with Pale Plum water colour crayons and Perfect Plum ink. I've decided to use this image to show another colour option for a very versatile card. The card can be found in an older post in Old Olive under Heartfelt Thanks. This set is quickly becoming one of my faves! One of my fellow crafters stamped "Happy Mother's Day" on the strip of Pale Plum that you can see going down the side of the card; not seen here in this photo.

Stay tuned for a special mother's day project. I will be waiting until after mother's day to post it as it's a special surprise for my Mom! It's so hard making something for her....we are often card making together! LOL!

Pretty Amazing Diorama

I really wanted to try a diorama card and this is it! I used the 1 3/8" circle punch for the larger circles and the 1 1/4" circle punch for the smaller circles. I just love the Pretty Amazing stamp set I find it so versatile! I think Pale Plum and Perfect Plum are becoming one of my favourite colour combos! I'm thinking of doing this card at my next workshop, but it involves more cutting....sigh. LOL!

I used blender pens and the Perfect Plum ink pad to add some colour and dimension to the bird and of course some glitter for our friendly little butterfly. If you are coming to one of my next workshops let me know if you would like to make this card by leaving a comment! Hint, hint.

Thank you card!

I just love this colour combo (don't I always say that? LOL). Pink Passion, Gable Green and Whisper White. The So Swirls roller was used for the background (another one of my faves) and to add texture I used the crimper. It's so easy and it just gives that added dimension and texture to a card. The butterfly is from the Pretty Amazing set and Thank you is from Wonderful Words. For that added sparkle I used glue and diamond glitter. The funnniest thing happens with glitter. I was making this card with a friend of mine and I did the typical thing and was covered in glitter. The funny thing is....I wasn't even making the card she was! It worked out perfect because we were all glittered up and ready for a girls night out! I hope you enjoy and thanks again!

Pretty Amazing!

Another project from this last weekend! I was so busy prepping last week that my blog was left unattended:( But I'm back and raring to go....sharing ideas!
This card is really interesting with the way it opens up....once you untie the card the card opens up on the 45 angle. This is one of my favourite colour combinations....just ask my mom..LOL! I used Soft sky, chocolate chip and whisper white. For the bird I used the blender pen and the ink pad to add some highlight and dimension to the bird. The Pretty Amazing set is so versatile and elegant, I used the three flower stamp to create the background, the branch is on it's side and the bird. I don't know why but I always thought of the using the branch upright, but it's actually more natural on it's side like a branch.

Easter Inspiration!

When I started this card I wanted to punch it up with a vibrant and easter inspired colour scheme, and I really wanted to try out this criss cross card technique. I still owe you a tutorial on the slider card, so I won't get myself in hot water by promising you another one just yet...LOL! I used Yoyo Yellow, Whisper White and Lovely Lilac CS. The glittered flower at the top of the card insert is from the Pretty amazing set, and stamped in So Saffron ink (who says everything has to match perfectly....sometimes close is close enough...LOL) and glamoured up with some glitter and a crystal brad. On the bottom of the card insert I chosse a Thank You sentiment from the Wonderful Words stamp set and inked it in Perfect Plum. The Whisper White CS on the front of the card was stamped with peices of the Priceless stamp set in Perfect Plum, So Saffron and Pale Plum. I think this card is an excellent example showing how you can mix and match colours together even if you don't have the exact right one.

Celebrate!

This is a card that I've been working on lately, where I've done a couple of versions. This first card is done on Chocolate chip cardstock and rolled with the So Swirls jumbo roller in whipser white ink. I love the So Swirls roller, it just looks so elegant and it's so easy to do! On the whisper white card stock I stamped the flourishes from the Priceless stamp set in Sky blue, and Celebrate from the Wonderful Words stamp set in Blue Bayou. When the In Colours retire in July I will be so sad, they are some of my favourite colours! The bird was stamped on Tempting Turquoise card stock with Black Stazon ink. A little snip and little clip and a pop dot completes the bird! This next card was actually the one I made first. For a more subtle look I rolled So Swirls with Pretty N Pink ink on coordinating card stock. The same flourishes from Priceless were stamped in Sky Blue as well as the Celebrate from Wonderful Words in Blue Bayou. To accent the card I used some stick on gems in pink and traced the flourishes with a clear gel pen. Add a little coordinating ribbon and voila! You're done! Easy Peasy!

Pretty Amazing Card

This is one of the projects that we did at Nancy's party, thanks again for being such a gracious hostess! Chocolate chip is one of my favourite colours and is a wonderful accent with the gable green cardstock and green galore ink. The turquoise rhinestone brad adds the perfect bit of sparkle. When I planned this card I was thinking it was going to be quick and easy--goes to show how much I know. LOL. There was a lot of grumbling when the ladies were cutting out the flower, it has a lot of petals and they did it twice. I'm not sure how well you can see it in the photo but the smaller flower was embossed with iridescent ice. I'm not sure about you but I always feel like card making is a labour of love---and boy did those ladies labour!
